Role overview

As a Senior Technical Consultant you will embed with strategic customers to design, build, and operate business-critical systems on the Akka stack — Akka SDK, Akka Platform, and core libraries such as Clustering, Persistence, Sharding, Streams, and Projections. You will turn complex requirements into low-latency, highly available solutions and accelerate adoption through hands-on coaching. Experience applying AI/ML, especially agentic-AI techniques  to real-time workloads is a strong advantage.

Reports to: VP of Services & Solution Architecture

In this role you will

• Architect and design distributed systems and agentic-AI applications on the Akka stack, meeting stringent latency, resilience, and scalability targets.
• Lead hands-on development, deployment, and performance tuning side-by-side with customer engineers, coding in Java / Scala and automating CI/CD pipelines for production readiness.
• Provide proactive post-sales support and troubleshooting, guiding incident response, root-cause analysis, and optimisation to safeguard SLAs and customer satisfaction.
• Act as the primary technical partner for strategic customers, staying close to their business goals and success metrics so every engagement remains outcome-driven.
• Partner closely with Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Engineering to ensure smooth engagements and feed actionable field insights into the roadmap.
• Govern engagements end-to-end, defining scope, milestones, risk plans, and executive updates while coordinating across customer and vendor stakeholders.
• Enable and mentor customer teams through workshops, pairing sessions, code reviews, and reusable runbooks that accelerate self-sufficiency.
• Document and share best practices and field insights to strengthen Akka’s professional-services playbooks and the Akka community knowledge base.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on software development or customer-facing engineering experience.
• Proven ability to design and build distributed systems in Java or Scala.
• Production experience with Akka Libraries, including Akka Clustering, Persistence, and Sharding.
• Solid grasp of reactive patterns (Event Sourcing, CQRS, Saga, Sharding) and Kubernetes-based deployments (Helm, Terraform, GitOps).
• Track record of delivering production systems and clearly explaining complex ideas to both technical and business audiences.
• Proficiency with AWS, GCP, or Azure, and a sound understanding of SaaS / PaaS delivery models.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with developers, architects, and executive stakeholders.
• Ability to travel up to 20 % within the region to customer sites.

Preferred qualifications

• Exposure to AI/ML in streaming or event‑driven systems; agentic‑AI experience is a plus.
• Experience with hyperscalers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Domain expertise in ultra‑low‑latency, high‑throughput sectors (fintech, telecom, IoT).
• Familiarity with reactive data stores (Cassandra, DynamoDB, ScyllaDB) and streaming platforms (Kafka, Pulsar).
